VANCOUVER,– The B.C. Federation of Labour is holding a series of solidarity rallies this week in support of the teachers’ fight for a fair deal and better classroom conditions.

The first rally will be held today at 5:00 pm in front of Education Minister Peter Fassbender’s office in Surrey.

“The BC Liberal government just doesn’t get it,” said Jim Sinclair, President of the B.C. Federation of Labour. “We know that the majority of people in this province support teachers and overwhelmingly agree with the issues they are fighting for.”

“These rallies are an opportunity for parents and community members to join with teachers and stand up against a government that is undermining our public education system.”

Rallies will be held in communities around the province, culminating in Vancouver on Friday, September 5.
