Labour Day events across BC

This year, Labour Day events will be mostly virtual as workers and communities continue to stay safe during the pandemic. There are, however, virtual events taking place across the province. You can find links to District Labour Councils below, and we will continue to update this page withe more information as it becomes available.

Sunshine Coast Labour Council (SCLC)

The SCLC has a range of activities happening for Labour Day including an online Labour Day-themed colouring poster contest (template available on SCLC Facebook page and at Gibsons and Sechelt libraries) from August 11th until 6:00 pm on September 6th. They also have a Healthcare Workers Appreciation Week campaign (September 1-10) and are working with the Union Protein Project and Sunshine Coast Community Services Food Bank Drive to distribute protein-rich foods (delivery TBA).

Vancouver & District Labour Council (VDLC) and New Westminster & District Labour Council (NWDLC) joint event

VDLC and NWDLC will host a virtual event featuring the second-ever Elsie Awards recognizing nominated union members for their outstanding contributions to the labour movement. They are also hosting a children’s colouring contest. For more information, visit: www.nwdlc.ca or www.vdlc.ca
