BCFED statement on the first anniversary of the Lapu-Lapu Day tragedy in Vancouver
It was one year ago Sunday evening that tragedy struck the Lapu-Lapu Day block party in Vancouver. We share the grief and loss felt by the Filipino community and everyone who was affected by that terrible attack.
This is a difficult anniversary, and our hearts go out to everyone reliving painful memories of that event.
That includes the first responders, frontline workers, community workers and health care workers who came to the aid of the afflicted, and who have our enduring gratitude. This day reminds us just how far our province still has to go to ensure everyone can get the mental health supports they need.
To the family, friends and colleagues of those killed and injured on April 24, 2025, we extend our deepest condolences and our heartfelt solidarity.
