B.C. Federation Statement on Workplace Shooting at Western Forest Products

The B.C. Federation of Labour is deeply saddened by this shocking workplace tragedy. At a meeting today of the Executive Officers of the B.C. Federation of Labour, a moment of silence was observed for the two workers killed and two workers seriously injured in the shooting at Western Forest Products yesterday in Nanaimo, BC.

“On behalf the B.C. Labour Movement, Irene Lanzinger, Secretary-Treasurer of the B.C. Federation, and I extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims, our Sisters and Brothers of the United Steelworkers, and the entire community of Nanaimo. Our thoughts and prayers are with you,” said Jim Sinclair, President of the B.C. Federation of Labour.
