Labour code review a step towards balance and fairness for workers, says BCFED

Vancouver – A review of the BC labour code announced by Victoria today is a step in renewing the confidence of the labour movement in the code and its administration, says the BC Federation of Labour.

“After 16 years of the BC Liberals, we urgently need to restore balance and fairness in the code and at the BC Labour Relations Board,” says BCFED President Irene Lanzinger.

“The panel of experts created by Labour Minister Harry Bains will provide an opportunity for unions and employers to make recommendations to update rules covering unionized workers and employers,” she says. “And the committee he has appointed to lead the process is made up of capable and respected labour relations experts.”

Lanzinger says the labour code review is another 2017 campaign commitment that the Horgan government has fulfilled.
