April 29, 2015 | Statement

VANCOUVER – The following is a statement from Irene Lanzinger, President of the BC Federation of Labour regarding the announcement that Jim Sinclair will receive a Honourary Degree from Kwantlen Polytechnic University:

“Congratulations to my friend and colleague Jim Sinclair on the news that Kwantlen Polytechnic University is awarding him a Honourary Degree.

I have known Jim for many years, and worked very closely with him during his time as President of the BC Federation of Labour. Jim’s commitment to improving the lives of working people in this province and across the country is remarkable.

As President of the BCFED for 15 years, Jim made a significant impact on public policy and advanced the work of the labour movement in British Columbia. From improved laws that keep workers safe, to increases in the minimum wage, and enhanced participation in the democratic process – Jim is a strong voice for all workers.

His contribution to the labour movement is well documented, as is his long standing commitment to building an economy that works for everyone.

KPU’s recognition of Jim’s work and dedication is a wonderful honour. Congratulations Jim!”
